This year’s Sydney Caravan & Camping Supershow at Rosehill Gardens featured Trakka’s ultimate in vehicle design for extended remote living - the Torino Xtra Remote. As the name suggests, the Fiat Ducato-based motor home has been designed to be self-contained for days when avoiding any form of civilization.
Unlike previous models, the Torino Xtra Remote utilises the latest Webasto diesel system to not only heat the interior, but also power the stove and water heater. As well as freeing up storage space thanks to the lack of a gas bottle, it also increases safety by swapping the gas stove’s naked flame for an ultra-modern CERAN cooking surface. In this model Trakka has moved away from gas and 240V appliances to diesel power providing quicker water heating, more storage, the convenience of not having to switch the gas on and off or having to park near a power supply. Total independence is assured with diesel being the only fuel needed on any trip.
Trakka has equipped the Torino Xtra Remote with an excellent kitchen featuring a stainless steel sink, a 17-litre microwave and a now larger 136-litre fridge freezer placed at an elevated location for ease of access. The curved design is aesthetically very pleasing and ensures the most efficient space utilisation.

Up to four people can be entertained in comfort and luxury on the permanent two-seater bench with the swivelling front seats rotated. Its permanent rear double bed is height adjustable and provides heaps of room to spend a comfortable night at a size of 1.86 by 1.35m.
In addition to this the Torino Xtra Remote features the latest in bathroom technology in the form of the Switch Mode Bathroom (SMB) - the epitome of Trakka’s renowned quality, style as well as innovation. In the SMB, the chemical toilet is retractable, giving the bathroom a much bigger feel and also keeps the toilet dry when showering.
Finishing off the 6.36m long Torino Xtra Remote are the inclusion of a 14-litre hot-water tank, a powered side entry step, outside hot and cold shower, solar charging panel and a Palsonic high definition TV and DVD player. Extras include a reversing camera and sat-nav system; to name a few.
Upping its credentials even further is Fiat’s excellent 3.0-litre diesel engine producing 115kW and a very respectable 400Nm of torque. To make your trip as comfortable as possible, the front wheel drive vehicle has superb handling characteristics and comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission

General Manager of Trakka Martin Poate comments: “Trakka and Fiat have a very successful partnership. The Ducato has been named ‘Best base for a Motorhome’ in Europe for four years running.”
Trakka’s Torino Xtra Remote is the epitome of independent camping and can take you off the beaten track for prolonged periods of time. Its sole reliance on the abundantly available diesel fuel eliminates the need for powered sites and will take you to the most unexplored regions of the country.
